Description
A tangy, spicy, and refreshing Indian mango salad seasoned with chaat masala, herbs, and a zesty lime dressing. Perfect for summer meals or Indian-themed dinners!
Ingredients
- 2 semi-ripe mangoes (peeled and cubed)
- 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas (optional)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onions
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
- 1 green chili (finely chopped (optional))
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro (chopped)
- 1 tbsp mint leaves (chopped)
- 1 tsp chaat masala (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp black salt (kala namak)
- Juice of 1 lime or lemon
- 1 tsp tamarind paste (optional)
- Sev or crushed papdi for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Mango: Peel and dice mangoes into bite-sized pieces. Add to a large bowl.
- Add Veggies: Add onions, cucumber, green chili, cilantro, and mint.
- Season: Sprinkle chaat masala, cumin, and black salt. Add lime juice and tamarind paste.
- Mix Gently: Toss gently to combine without breaking the mango.
- Garnish & Serve: Top with sev or papdi just before serving. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
For extra crunch, top with roasted peanuts.
Add grilled paneer for a protein-rich vegetarian version.
Skip the green chili for a milder taste.
