Description

This Sourdough with Matcha Cream is a modern, café-style treat that combines tangy artisan sourdough with a lightly sweet, earthy matcha whipped cream. It’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an elegant afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread (fresh or toasted)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream (cold)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder (sifted)
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, pistachios, white chocolate shavings, mint

Instructions

  1. Whip the Matcha Cream: In a chilled bowl, add cold cream, sifted matcha powder, and powdered sugar or honey. Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat until soft peaks form. Chill if not using immediately.
  2. Toast the Bread (Optional): Lightly toast the sourdough slices for a crisp texture or use fresh slices for a chewier base.
  3. Spread and Top: Generously spread the whipped matcha cream over each slice. Garnish with your favorite toppings like berries, chopped pistachios, or white chocolate shavings.
  4. Serve Immediately: Best enjoyed fresh. Pair with matcha latte or green tea for a complete brunch experience.

Notes

Use full-fat cream or coconut cream for the best texture. For a lighter option, try whipped Greek yogurt. Matcha cream can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Sift the matcha for a smooth, lump-free finish.
